Family & Wedding Photos With Your Dog - the Greatest Mood Booster!

Family walking their dog on a leash in the Minnesota Woods

According to statistics by the National Pet Owners Survey in the USA, at least 3 out of every 4 families have dogs, which probably explains the constant rise in requests to include them in all types of photo sessions. Not only do dogs help us cope with mental health in difficult times, but they are mood enhancers and the social lubricant needed to help families relax, interact more spontaneously with each other, as well as having the added advantage of creating meaningful and stunning wall art which can add a personal touch and charisma to your home decor.

Here are 5 great tips you can follow to have successful family photos with dogs or other pets:

  1. Arrive early and exercise your pet before the shoot.

  2. Bring a collar, leash, toys and treats to help them cooperate

  3. Don't dress them up if they are not used to it.

  4. Enlist the help of a friend (especially important in wedding shoots) or remember that your dog will only be in the family shoot, or part of wedding photos for around 15 minutes.

  5. Take your dog's personality into account when choosing a location. If your dog is nervous and doesn't enjoy large crowds choose a more intimate location with fewer people around.

Remember that your dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than it loves itself, and I look forward to helping you plan and capturing many magic moments on camera.
